Tom Gordon MP Visits Year 6
This week, Year 6 were delighted to welcome Tom Gordon, Member of Parliament for Harrogate and Knaresborough, for an inspiring and informative visit.
Tom shared insights into his journey into politics and gave the children a behind-the-scenes look at life as an MP. He spoke passionately about the importance of representing constituents and how MPs work to address issues both locally and nationally. He also gave an insight into the importance of teamwork, listening, and speaking up for what you believe in.
The children were particularly interested to hear about local issues facing Harrogate - including roadworks, river pollution, and other matters affecting the environment and daily life.
Tom’s engaging manner and thoughtful answers to the pupils’ questions made a real impact. He encouraged the class to stay curious, speak up for what they believe in, and recognise that their voices matter - even at primary school age.
It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to connect their learning about democracy, responsibility, and citizenship with real-world leadership.
A big thank you to Tom Gordon MP for taking the time to visit and inspire the next generation of changemakers!
