🛡️ Year 3 Step into Roman Britain at Murton Park 🏺

This week, Year 3 were transported back in time as they took part in an unforgettable school trip to Murton Park — an immersive Roman experience that brought their history topic to life.

Dressed as Roman citizens, the children spent the day in a reconstructed Roman village where they:

  • 🏺 Made traditional pottery-style candles

  • ✍️ Wrote using authentic Roman script

  • 🛡️ Participated in military drills with wooden shields

  • 🏘️ Learned about daily life in a Roman settlement

The children rose to every challenge with enthusiasm, showing great teamwork, curiosity and historical knowledge. Our hosts were incredibly impressed by the children’s listening skills, questions and interest in Roman life.

The visit has helped deepen their understanding of Roman Britain, and they can’t wait to apply what they’ve learned in their next lessons. One child even said, “I really felt like I was a Roman today – it was the best school trip ever!”

A huge thank you to the staff at Murton Park, our brilliant adult helpers, and of course, the children — whose behaviour, respect and excitement made the day truly special. What a fantastic way to bring history to life!
